A/W 2012-2013 exemplified the formal and traditional aspects of the Burberry man. Christopher Bailey presented a variety of quintessentially British outdoots classics such as quilted hunting jackets and tweed outerwear layered over chunky knits in a muted palette. This elegant pure cashmere piece has a classic dandy charm, with its elegant V-shaped neckline and unique hand crochet stitch detailing across the neck and shoulders.
Like most Prorsum tops, the cut is form-fitting with a defined upper body and slim sleeves. The fabric is a luxurious five gauge cashmere in a beautiful burgundy/wine hue, with a lusciously smooth texture. Unlike many cashmere sweaters, the high quality fibers used in this yarn make it incredibly fluffy without being prone to pilling. The shoulders have a raglan cut that emphasizes the beautiful handknit details, which subtly reveal what is worn underneath. The cut is slightly shorter than most Prorsum outerwear, while maintaining the house's typical slim silhouette across the body and arms.
The quality of the knit is very high and this is evident in its fully fashioned construction, with each individual piece being knit to its exact shape in a process similar to hand knitting. This process is much more expensive than typical cut-and-sew knitwear and undoubtedly superior in terms of longevity. The sleeve cuffs and waistband are finished with narrow ribbing. Furthermore, the Prorsum label on the neck is attached by hand to prevent the seams from showing on the outside when the knit stretches.
A versatile and extremely luxurious classic, this finely crafted piece will add an elegant splash of colour into any sophisticated casual outfit.
