Todd Lynn 'Adams' jacket from the A/W 2010-2011 collection. In excellent used condition; the exterior pockets are sewn shut. Made in France in a limited edition of 5. RRP: £1395

Todd Lynn is renown for his resolutely sharp lines, and this piece is no exception. For A/W 2010, Lynn was inspired by raw natural materials and particularly the hides of hunted animals. His typical hyper-tailored aesthetic was complemented by the use of leather in an assortment of textures, lending a somewhat softer edge to the hard lines. This limited edition runway piece is quintessentially Todd Lynn and encapsulates the season's focus, while featuring the architectural precision and flawless execution that has come to define the designer's output. The editorial photos show this piece worn by Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars and are courtesy of YRB Magazine.

The jacket resembles an evening jacket with aggressive biker-inspired detailing. Its cut is razor sharp, with narrow structured shoulders, slim sleeves and a strictly tailored silhouette. The front closes with a zipper, and the lapels can be folded or worn up to reveal contrasting inserts made from baby calf leather. This leather is extremely fine and of incredibly high quality, with a lusciously soft texture. The stand-up neck is finished with a removable throat latch that further enhances the jacket's severe aesthetic when closed. The fabric is a textured wool/viscose blend described as 'vintage stretch wool'. Its loose weave results in a slightly uneven, textured surface, while a 2% elastane content gives the fabric generous flexibility that makes the jacket very comfortable despite its slim cut.

Like all Todd Lynn outerwear pieces, the jacket's craftsmanship is exceptional and of an almost couture standard. On the front, Todd Lynn's supreme tailoring is clearly evident in the long darts that disrupt the side seams and create sharp geometrical lines, while shaping the contoured silhouette. Likewise, the back has a multitude of elaborate darts that lend it a completely three-dimensional shape. The pockets have a strong shape with an angular edge that flawlessly aligns with the darts of the back. The throat latch attaches to hand-sewn antique metal buttons. The zipper on the front has a tonal black finish, while the cuffs have similar zipped closures with heavyweight Riri M8 zippers. The interior is fully lined in soft cupro sateen.

This piece is a testament to Todd Lynn's subversive perfectionism, featuring many of the iconic features that have made his work coveted and recognizable among avant-garde connoisseurs. In a sea of poorly made 'designer' clothes, this jacket strikes out as a truly well made garment with a directional aesthetic that will be enjoyed for years to come.
