MIU MIU men's nylon winter coat from A/W 2002. Made in Italy.
In excellent used condition with minor signs of wear and minor pull on left sleeve.
Miu Miu's A/W 2002 presentation showcased various garments inspired by mid-century aviator outerwear. This design appropriates details from the N-3 parka, which happens to be the first nylon garment designed by the US Army Air Forces in the 1940s. Elements of the MA-2 bomber blouson from the 1950s are also evident. Miu Miu's interpretation of these classics has abbreviated several of their original features. The result is, in our opinion, a true sportswear classic.
The coat is crafted from Prada's signature nylon gabardine, a robust fabric with a deep shine. The front closes with a zipper and snap buttons, leading up to a large hood. There are two pockets with bomber-style curvilinear flaps, placed high on the waist for a rather cute look. Triangular calf leather trims on the hood and drawstring waist add a subtle point of interest, while the piece is finished with a small rank tab on the right side of the chest and a cargo pocket on the right sleeve.
The interior is fully lined in nylon gabardine and features polyester padding for increased insulation. Its craftsmanship is pristine and the coat is effectively reversible. The sleeves are finished with ribbed knit made from 50% virgin wool and acrylic.
