Rick Owens Bauhaus leather jacket from S/S 2009 'Strutter'. Sample in excellent used condition. Made in Italy.

'Strutter' is one of Rick Owens's definitive menswear seasons. Combining his renown asymmetrical outerwear with oversized underlayers, slouchy shorts and heavy footwear, the designer created an effortless yet dramatic silhouette that has since then dominated contemporary streetwear-inspired fashion. The 'Bauhaus' jacket was introduced this season, and remains one of his most coveted designs. While a variation of the jacket has been re-issued recently, the iconic rain shield on the back was exclusive to the original version of the jacket.

The jacket is realised in a heavyweight lamb leather that gives an armor-like appearance to the structured cut. The leather has been distressed and polished for a deep coloured surface with beautifully pronounced grains. The front has a severe asymmetrical closure that finishes in a sharp funnel neck. The oversized rain shield on the back produces an architectural silhouette that clearly sets this piece apart from classic Rick Owens jackets. The waist features two large pockets, while the cuffs are finished with soft virgin wool ribbed knit. Conversely, the retail version of this piece featured zipped cuffs.

Like most Rick Owens outerwear, the jacket's sharp geometrical lines are the result of its intricate pattern. This is particularly evident on the sides of the upper body, where curvilinear panels shape the armhole area instead of a traditional set-in sleeve. Likewise, sharp darts on the upper and lower back give it a contoured shape that is dramatically disrupted by the rain shield. On the interior, different lining fabrics comprised of 55% rayon, 35% cotton and 10% silk make the jacket a pleasure to wear. Owens's signature oversized zip pockets are also present, allowing to carry a large notebook in each.

Combining a sturdy heavyweight leather with a radical silhouette, this Bauhaus jacket is one of Rick Owens's finest jacket designs
