This rare parka is a quintessential Miu Miu garment in its combination of disparate design elements, brought together to create a congruous and intelligent design with an abundance of features. The piece consists of a parka shell and a removable liner which can be worn independently as shown on the runway presentation.
The shell is inspired by late-century Belgian army parkas, reworked thoroughly with subtle hints of deconstruction: The front has a concealed closure but two buttons are visible; the epaulettes and cuff tabs have oversize buttonholes but no buttons. The pockets have precise linear flaps that add simple detail, while the waist has an interior drawstring. The upper back has a layered bi-swing construction for easier movement, and the sleeves have pleated elbows. The fabric is a 68% cotton & 32% wool denim with a subtle herringbone weave. The interior is unlined and beautifully finished.
The removable liner is crafted from 58% nylon and 42% polyester that has been filled with polyester padding. The liner connects to the shell with herringbone tape tabs that create a utilitarian point of interest, while the interior is decorated with racing-style patches that are visible on the back. The liner is lightweight and reversible, and its performance-driven materials contrast nicely with the retro-militaristic aesthetic of the parka.
