Ann Demeulemeester blazer jacket from S/S 2006. In brand new condition without tags; the exterior pockets are sewn shut. Made in Portugal.

S/S 2006 was the first season where Ann Demeulemeester menswear was shown in an independent runway. The brand's slow but sure expansion meant that Demeulemeester's wardrobe for men could no longer be presented as a side note of the women's offerings. The collection's straightforward and streamlined styling set the tone for what could be described as a 'Best of' anthology, showcasing the unique sartorial elements that make Demeulemeester a unique voice in menswear. This jacket has been released numerous times since its original presentation (pictured: S/S 2006 and S/S 2007) and demonstrates Demeulemeester's elegantly disheveled vision.

Unlike outerwear from Demeulemeester's later seasons, the blazer has a trim and narrow cut with strong shoulders, slim sleeves and a slightly shorter back. A four button closure allows the collar to nonchalantly stand up. The fabric is a fine corduroy with a subtle vintage treatment. While primarily consisting of cotton, its unique addition of 14% metal gives it a textured, wrinkly surface with a very faint sparkle. These texture variations will become even more interesting through wear. The undersides of the lapel and collar feature sateen inserts consisting of 73% virgin wool and 27% silk. Unlike the slightly rugged surface of the corduroy, this luxurious material has a pure sheen that gives the jacket a refined elegance.

The front is finished with narrow lapels, long darts and three pockets. The back has an intricate multi-panelled construction, with a curvilinear shape that  follows the lines of the body. The shoulders have a defined padded shape with Demeulemeester's slightly dropped proportions, complementing the jacket's sharp cut. The lapel and pocket flaps feature pick-stitching that is done by hand, while the cuffs feature functional buttonholes. The interior features a long sateen panel on the bottom of the front and is fully lined in soft black viscose.

Overall, this is a versatile piece with an astounding fabrication and effortless aesthetic. Its discreet elegance is quintessentially Demeulemeester, and you will reach for it again and again.
