Dries van Noten double-breasted jacket from S/S 2010. In brand new condition with tags. RRP: £620

Double-breasted jackets are a Dries van Noten signature, and they are showcased almost every season in different fabrics and cuts. The design's popularity lies in van Noten's ability to create highly wearable garments that combine well-cut elegance with modern sprezzatura. In other words, they look rather dandy without being contrived or ironic, and this balance is very hard to find nowadays.

This beautiful jacket from S/S 2010 represents van Noten's softer side, realised in a robust linen fabric with a vintage treatment. The textured weave and overdyed finish of the fabric give it a slightly rugged and elegantly time-worn aspect. At the same time, the effortless qualities of the fabric are complemented by a sharp slim cut with van Noten's signature narrow shoulders, a sharp short length and a fitted body. The front is adorned by peak lapels and military-inspired patch pockets with ornate pleats, while the back has a double vent.

Dries van Noten tailoring is renowned for offering sharp, modern silhouettes and beautiful fabrics without compromising on construction and quality, and this piece is no exception. The shoulders and pocket edges have tonal cotton gabardine applications that enhance their structural integrity while adding a subtle yet sophisticated detail. Likewise, the interior of the pockets features grosgrain tape detailing that prevents them from stretching. The interior is unlined on the body, with smooth viscose lining on the sleeves. All interior seams have perfectly executed tape bound edges. The cuffs feature pick-stitching around their edges which is done by hand, while the sleeve buttonholes are functional. All buttons are made from genuine buffalo horn with beautiful markings and are sewn by hand.

Overall, Dries van Noten is an excellent tailor; this beautiful casual piece demonstrates his talent through its traditional craftsmanship, beautiful textures and well thought-out detailing
