A/W 2009-2010 was a season devoted entirely to Christopher Bailey menswear classics. In line with his vision of 'disheveled elegance', the designer mixed ornate Edwardian outerwear with vintage-looking shirting and dramatic flared trousers to create a rock n' roll urgency. The palette was limited to a muted selection of charcoal, black and olive. Stylistically straightforward yet precisely on-point, the collection received tremendous praise from critics and fans alike. This elegant winter jacket combines modern biker elements with traditional trench coat detailing. Its refined design and thoughtful finishing demonstrate Burberry Prorsum's incomparable attention to detail, and result in a classic piece that you will reach for again and again.
The streamlined design has a zip closure with two pockets on the waist. The cut is slim and defined, with narrow shoulders, slim sleeves and a flattering tapered waist. The fabric is an densely woven dark grey/olive nylon that is lightweight and waterproof. The fabric's soft drape creates an elegant ruched effect along the seams. The neck has an oversized funnel shape (a Christopher Bailey signature) with a sharp trench-inspired buckled strap. A chunky zip closes the front, with an oversized metal pull tab engraved with the Prorsum logo. Similar oversized zippers and buckled straps adorn the cuffs, giving the jacket a luxurious masculine edge. The front is finished with long vertical welt pockets and a ribbed waist. The jacket is fully padded, making it very warm and perfect for the colder seasons.
While being visually understated, an abundance of luxurious details that set the jacket apart from ordinary winter outerwear. The fabric has a faint striped pattern, and upon a closer inspection one can see that all panels are flawlessly aligned. Subtle piped detailing runs along the pocket welts and front zip, giving depth to the sharp lines. The polished gunmetal finish of the hardware complements the modern design and the zips are custom Lampo, with the Prorsum logo even on the back. The neck features a zipped compartment with a concealed hood for rainy days, while the back has reinforced darts that create a three-dimensional silhouette. On the interior, the lining is perfectly placed to reveal an oversized Prorsum knight logo on its center as the jacket opens. The sleeves are lined in a beautiful forest green check fabric that feels pleasant against the skin and the neck features Prorsum's signature heavy pull chain.
