Helmut Lang zipped technical jacket from S/S 1998. In excellent used condition with minor signs of wear. Made in Italy.
Helmut Lang's output was rarely defined by seasonal themes. Design elements from his early collections were often reworked and reiterated until the label's demise, highlighting Lang's emphasis on refinement rather than novelty. The classic zipped blouson is a prime example of this attitude: First introduced in the early 1990s, it is one of Lang's interseasonal staples and was produced every season in different fabrics and finishes. Its effortless aesthetic evokes sophistication and understatement (pictured: S/S 1999, A/W 1998 and S/S 1994).
Channeling the S/S 1998 collection's emphases on lightness and fabric experimentation, this version is crafted from translucent nylon in a micro-ripstop weave. The fabric's semi-sheer appearance creates beautiful plays with the wearer's body, while its light weight and crisp texture lend an avant-garde edge that pleasantly complements its minimalist design.
The front features a point collar and a polished silver zipper closure. Lang's signature chest pocket is sewn from the interior side, creating a subtle point of interest. The waist is reinforced with a double layered horizontal panel, while sporty drawstrings add simple detail. The cuffs have elastic tape that produces a slightly ruched effect. Upon a closer inspection, the unlined interior is expertly finished with french and flat fell seams for increased durability. Overall, the construction is precise and very much representative of Lang's unembellished approach.
A beautiful example of Lang's avant-garde streetwear, this jacket encapsulates the subtle transgressions that defined Lang's menswear in the 1990s. Subtle, refined and beautifully crafted, it will add a striking element to any casual outfit.
