Veronique Branquinho blazer jacket from S/S 2006. In brand new condition without tags. Made in Romania.

We strongly believe that Veronique Branquinho's short-lived menswear line (2003-2008) offered some of the best classically styled menswear in the designer market. Combining lean, elongated silhouettes with sophisticated designs and traditional craftsmanship, Branquinho's garments demonstrated that understatement can be a powerful statementThis jacket is a strong example of the designer's sensual and refined approach, which is best appreciated upon a closer inspection of its tremendous attention to detail.

First of all, the cut. Slim and tailored in all the right places, the jacket is handsome and flattering. Both runway pictures show this piece worn slightly oversized. The shoulders are narrow and strongly structured and the body has a contoured cut that closely follows the lines of the body. Likewise, the sleeves are slim and elongated. Interestingly, the jacket's proportions are very similar to Raf Simons's tailoring, with whom Branquinho was in a relationship during the late 1990s. Beautiful details complete the streamlined design: the slim lapels have an elegant small peak with hand-finished edges, while the large horn buttons buttons are secured by metal studs instead of being sewn. These exquisite buttons are one of Branquinho's signatures and demonstrate her ingenious eye for detailThe fabric is a fine virgin wool with a faint tonal pinstripe. Its soft drape and light weight make it ideal for warmer seasons, while making the jacket very pleasant to wear.

The construction of this piece is of an exceptional standard. Fully canvased for a precise and structured silhouette, the jacket features extensive hand-finishing. The collar is backed with burgundy felt that looks beautiful when kept up. The interior is fully lined in textured cotton on the body and viscose sateen on the sleeves. The lining is entirely attached by hand on the shoulders, hem and vent. There are two buttoned chest pockets and the neck is finished with Branquinho's signature vintage leather hanging tab. All buttons are backed with metal loops, protecting the soft fabric from stretching. Overall, all seams are perfectly executed inside and out, giving an exceptionally clean finish to the piece.

In men's tailoring, it is craftsmanship that ultimately distinguishes a well-made garment from a substandard one. This is an exemplary piece, combining high quality with a superb cut and beautiful details. We strongly recommend it.
