Ann Demeulemeester leather jacket from S/S 2002. In excellent used condition. Made in Italy.

Ann Demeulemeester is renown for the subtle, intriguing details that distinguish her work from other designers. Soft and three-dimensional, her tailoring highlights the wearer's movements while feeling very pleasant to wear. Aesthetically, Demeulemeester's garments make subtle and refined statements without compromising on avant-garde style. The designer's supreme talent is manifested in this classic leather jacket. Originally showcased for S/S 2002, it has since then been re-issued for A/W 2004 and Collection Blanche. It is one of her quintessential pieces and stands out in its astounding beauty and tremendous attention to detail. We are pleased to also offer the 2010 re-edition of this piece in waxed nubuck leather.

The timeless design is military-inspired with a slightly asymmetric eight button closure. When open the peak lapels drape softly, creating the elegantly disheveled look Demeulemeester is known for. The cut is tailored with strong padded shoulders, a fitted shape and a slightly shorter back for an easy yet flattering silhouette. The jacket is made from a heavy cowhide that gives a bold structure to the sharp silhouette. One of the collection's signature materials, the black hide has been hand-painted white and then washed for a unique cracked finish with pronounced irregularities in texture and colour.

The craftsmanship of this piece is second to none, with numerous details that demonstrate the attention paid to its design. The large silver buttons were one of S/S 2002's most iconic details. With an antique finish and subtly textured surface, they are some of the most beautiful buttons we have ever seen. The shoulders have sharp geometrical panels that enhance their strong outline, while perfectly executed darts on the chest shape the contoured silhouette. The collar is finished with military triangular topstitching. The waist features two double welt pockets, while the cuffs have Demeulemeester's characteristic 'bell' shape: In combination with the elongated sleeves, they produce an intimate glove-like sensation. The interior is fully lined in the designer's smooth striped viscose/acetate sateen.

Overall, this versatile and elegant piece is a wonderful manifestation of Demeulemeester's beautiful sartorial universe. Its directional fabric and feminine silhouette will make it an absolutely stand-out staple in any wardrobe.
