Ann Demeulemeester tank top from S/S 2007. In excellent used condition. Made in Belgium.

The S/S 2007 collection was inspired by Arthur Rimbaud's life and travels. It represented Ann Demeulemeester's gently disheveled and layered aesthetic at its most impactfulIn her own words, the clothes were 'sophisticated, but in my way', producing a phantasmagoria of textures, colours and shapes.

This tank top has a features a distinctive print inspired by Stupid, a short-lived Constructivist group of artists based in Cologne. Although only active between 1919 and 1920, the group exhibited together and issued a publication, Stupid 1, before disbanding. Demeulemeester playfully appropriated the graphic from the publication's cover, replacing the word stupid with wild while manipulating the typeface and turning it upside down. Having been applied by hand, the print has a slightly uneven appearance with a raised surface.

The top has a narrow and elongated shape that allows it to twist and cling on the body. While being originally from the mens' line, it undoubtedly possess unisex appeal. The fabric is a soft cotton jersey with a brushed finish that gives it a slightly fleecy texture. Finally, the neckline and armholes are finished with ribbed binding.

An easy-to-wear staple with an interesting background story behind its bold design, this top will work well with Demeulemeester's easy and elongated silhouettes.
