Ann Demeulemeester blazer jacket from A/W 2005-2006. In excellent used condition. Made in Czech Republic.

This is a classic Ann Demeulemeester piece that has been released numerous times since its original presentation (pictured: A/W 2005 and A/W 2007). It demonstrates many of the signature elements that make her designs unique and recognizable among fashion cognoscenti. Every aspect of this piece, from its construction and detailing to its cut and fabrication, is unmistakably Ann. This results in a garment that not only looks great but also feels amazing when worn. Let's examine what makes it so special:

First of all, the cut. A softly tailored shoulder design gives the jacket a gracefully oversized appearance, however the body and sleeves are actually quite fitted, with Demeulemeester's characteristic elongated proportions. The front has a two-button closure that is placed quite high for a flattering silhouette, and features five pockets; three are patch pockets with an oversized draped construction, which give the jacket a dramatic silhouette while being very useful. The other two have a buttoned welt construction. The back has a minimal construction with a single vertical seam that ends in a short vent. The sleeves have Demeulemeester's iconic subtly flared shape that gives a nonchalant elegance to their elongated cut. The stand-up collar is secured by a button and has Demeulemeester's signature subtly rectangular shape.

Second, Demeulemeester is renown for her excellent fabrics and this piece lives up to her reputation. The jacket is made from soft, flexible and thick cotton velvet. Its dense nap makes it tactilely pleasing, highly insulating and when when worn the blazer feels like a warm and soft blanket. The fabric has beautiful texture variations that will become even more interesting through wear. The interior is fully lined in Ann's signature brushed cotton, and smooth viscose/acetate on the sleeves. More interestingly, the sleeve cuffs feature a very special woven jacquard fabric made from a virgin wool/silk/viscose blend. As the sleeves’ generous length allows the cuffs to reach below the wrists, the jacquard lining of the cuffs produces an intimate glove-like sensation when the blazer is worn.

This piece is definitely the ideal winter jacket. Its pleasantly luxurious fabrics, utilitarian details and Demeulemeester's signature aesthetic result in a very special piece that sits right between notions of classic and avant-garde. We are sure that this will become a cherished staple for years to come
