2012 Nubuck Leather 'Angelina' Biker Jacket with Double Zipper

This biker jacket was originally showcased in Ann Demeulemeester's S/S 2003 runway, and since then it has been re-issued numerous times in different materials and proportions. S/S 2003 was one of the designer's most hard-boiled collections: Washed and distressed leathers lent a rock 'n roll edge to the runway's monochrome ensembles, enhanced by heavy metal hardware and long hanging straps. This piece was one of the collection's most characteristic designs, combining an aggressive double zipper closure with Demeulemeester's elegant tailoring. 

Inspired by perfecto jackets, the front has a double asymmetric zipper closure that can be styled in various ways; from a severe structured look when closed, to a nonchalant soft drape when open. Chunky silver zippers add a slight contrast that complements the look, while the waist is finished with a single zipped pocket. The cut is tailored with strong padded shoulders, a fitted shape and a slightly shorter back for an easy yet flattering silhouette. The jacket is made from a super soft goat nubuck with an exceptional softness and smooth texture that feels more like fabric than leather. One of Demeulemeester's signature materials, the leather has been waxed and distressed for a subtle patina with pronounced texture variations. Nubuck is a very luxurious and high quality leather that ages wonderfully over time.  

The craftsmanship of this piece is excellent, with numerous details that demonstrate the attention paid to its design. The shoulders feature Demeulemeester's distinctive inserts that add a beautiful feminine touch to the design. Likewise, the sleeves have a three-dimensional construction that produces a unique articulated cut that follows the lines of the body. The cuffs have Demeulemeester's characteristic 'bell' shape: In combination with the elongated sleeves, they produce an intimate glove-like sensation. All zippers are Italian-made and feel very substantial. The interior is fully lined in the designer's smooth striped viscose/acetate sateen.
